victorian book illustration of butterfly and flower
Black text on a white background that reads 'AUTHOR OF ALTERNATE WORDS'

Born and raised on Australia’s east coast, now living in Portland, OR, Kiara has always been deeply inspired by her environment. As a working florist and photographer, she learned to connect with her external world in a way that inspired any creative endeavors she undertook. As a writer, she aims to create atmospheric, emotional stories that have a strong sense of place, transporting the reader to a world that can explore complicated emotions with coziness and familiarity.

Kiara enjoys writing about polarizing topics, with deep themes of political injustice, feminine rage, and belonging through an alternate lens that gives the reader an opportunity to consider the influence that these have in shaping our realities.

When not writing fiction or poetry, you can find Kiara in her garden, hosting an elaborate dinner party, collecting vintage fairytale books or starting yet another craft.
